Note: Since my earlier email communication I believe I have figured out the correct list of children for our great grandpa Henry Lawson. All names are from census and/or birth and marriage records. Ellira was Early, Neoma was Frona, both children of his second wife. Living grandchildren have confirmed that to their knowledge Henry did have two children with Isabel Springer-Fraley. The two incorrect names were originally given to me from a conversation that a family member was trying to recall from years ago. Also note, Ellen and Amy Lawson are the same person. HENRY LAWSON was born 1846 in Scott Co., Virginia, and died Abt. 1924 in most likely West Virginia. He married (1) MARY M. HENDERSON July 27, 1865 in Carter Co. Kentucky, daughter of ROBERT HENDERSON and AMY GILBERT. She was born March 13, 1844 in Carter Co. Kentucky1,2,3, and died Bet. 1904 - 1910 in Rowan Co, Kentucky?. He married (2) ISABEL SPRINGER September 19, 1912 in Rowan Co, KY, daughter of COLUMBUS SPRINGER and RUTH HELTERBRAND. She was born April 1877 in Kentucky, and died October 1956 in Elizabethton, Carter, TN.

Children of HENRY LAWSON and MARY HENDERSON are: WILLIAM C. LAWSON, b. 1868, Carter Co. Kentucky5; d. 1915, Rowan Co., KY; m. HANNAETTE "ETTY" HELTERBRAND, September 2, 1892, Rowan Co, KY; b. 1871, Rowan Co, Kentucky6; d. October 20, 1950, Rowan Co, Kentucky.

HENRY JR. LAWSON, b. 1870, Carter Co, KY; d. Bef. 1880, Carter Co, KY.

ROBERT S. LAWSON, b. Bet. 1870 - 1871, Carter Co. Kentucky; d. Bet. 1920 - 1930, WV; m. MARTHA BRANHAM, 1895, Rowan Co, KY; b. Abt. 1880, Kentucky; d. Bet. 1920 - 1930, WV.

AMY ELLEN "PINK" LAWSON, b. Abt. 1872, Carter Co. KY; d. Abt. 1947; m. JACKSON "JACK" HAMILTON, November 18, 1901, Rowan Co, KY; b. February 1882, Lewis Co, Ky; 1930 census shows her as divorced.

EASTER S. LAWSON, b. May 13, 1878, Carter Co. Kentucky; d. Unknown. no further info

JEFFERSON F. LAWSON, b. 1881, Rowan Co, Kentucky; d. Aft. 1927, Unknown; m. (1) AMANDA HAMILTON, 1901, Rowan Co, KY; b. June 1884, Rowan Co, Ky; d. Unknown; m. (2) UNKNOWN, Abt. 1907, Rowan Co, KY

JAMES A. GARFIELD LAWSON, b. March 20, 1888, Rowan Co, Kentucky; d. February 22, 1964, San Jose, California; m. FRANCES IDELL MCCLELLAN, August 28, 1917, Coeburn, Va; b. January 10, 1896, Coeburn, Wise Co., Virginia; d. November 1, 1975, Hayward, California.

Children of HENRY LAWSON and ISABEL SPRINGER are: EARLY R. LAWSON, b. November 1913; d. Unknown Notes for EARLY R. LAWSON: Kentucky birth index shows this child born to mother Isabel Springer, father's last name Lawson. This child may have died young, I can find no evidence of child on 1920 census with the mother. Not sure if Early was a boy or girl. FRANCES FRONA LAWSON-FRALEY, b. March 9, 1917, Rowan or Carter Co , Kentucky; d. March 9, 1997, San Bernadino CO, CA; m. (1) BERT HENRY YOUNG, Carter Co, TN?; m. (2) JAMES A. WEAVER; d. Unknown. Notes for FRANCES FRONA LAWSON-FRALEY: Frona is with her mother Isabel on the 1920 census listed with last name Fraley. She is shown as 2 years, 11 months old. Isabel's first husband, Daniel Fraley died in 1908 and Isabel married Henry Lawson in 1912. Henry & Isabel later split and he is not with her in 1920. Although she went by the name Fraley I believe her to be the daughter of Henry Lawson.

Hi everyone. My name is Patti Lawson, I live in Illinois. I am sending this mail to each of you who posted family trees online which caught my eye. The names match some recently given to me from the bible of my husband's grandmother, Frances McClellan Lawson. I tried going to the link for the sources credited to Darrell Warner but it would not work for me. Here's how my husband's tree goes:

Bruce C. Lawson , son of:

Jefferson B. Lawson b. 2-26-1927 Ben Tree, WV, son of:
James A. Garfield Lawson b. 3-20-1888 KY, son of:
Henry T. Lawson and Mary M. Henderson.

I have looked at the 1880 Carter KY census online and the older siblings for James match what I have. William C., Robert, & Ester S. From the bible I also have additional siblings: Jeff, Ellen, Ellira & Neoma. The census lists a child Amy E. which could be one of these other girls with "E" names. this appears to be the same family as you have listed. I have some siblings for Henry Lawson but none for Mary Henderson. I was guessing that the R.J. Henderson on the 1880 census was Mary's father due to birth places given by all and the proximity of residence to the Lawson household. My question for you folks is how was the marriage date found for Henry & Mary? I am also confused as to the years of birth given by your trees in comparison to the census for 1880. If taking the ages from the census, Henry would have been born @@1849 and Mary @@ 1854. But looking at the age of child William, that would have made his mother 12 years old when he was born! Have any of you seen a copy of this census that possibly differs from what I find on the USGENWEB census sites? Possibly there is a transcribers error on the one I have saved from the site. From the bible I also have Mary Henderson's mother as a "Sarra", no father's name. Of course that name could be an error in a family members memory. It would sure seem that the Henry & Mary I have are the same as what each of you have listed. Does anyone have any knowledge of where these two died? Our surviving family say that Henry lived with son James after Mary's death and think the family would have been in either WV or VA at time of Henry's death. Unfortunately the grandchildren of Mary & Henry that survive were born after Mary died or just babies when Henry was still living. I am hoping to someday locate obituaries for them if possible. Any
