You know how that goes--sometimes they have it some times they don't. If I get it, I'll let you know--and hopefully it will provide more information. What I have now is: Affadavit of Elner/Ellenor Knight: ...deposes and says she is a resident of Tirone Schuyler Co N. Y.. That she well knows Nancy Knight and knew Charles Knight her husband in his lifetime that she first became acquainted with them in the month of January 1815 that they were then married and had with them one child then several weeks old from which fact and other circumstances in connection with her own marraige to the brother of said Knight..." This is what led me to the Henry and Eleanor in Schuyler County although I don't yet have proof it is the right couple. 1870 US Census; Starkey, Yates, New York; Page No. 32: D. E. As far as the Census records, the 1870 is not as clear as the 1880, so if it looks different to you, let me know. Do you have anything that would solidify the relationship between Job and Charles? My family is having a family reunion in Chautauqua County in September and I hope to find more information then. I don't know how many people will attend as most live on the West Coast. I live in Southern California and my Knight line is from my mother, Hattie Modelle Knight. My grandfather, Nelson Thurman Knight, was a well-known and well-traveled Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) evangelist. Very dynamic person. He was a lumber jack in his younger days and won awards for "sawing and bucking". My grandmother Knight's family came West on a covered wagon to the Olympic Pennisula where many of them still live. My mom and grandma were both born on the Pennisula. I was born in Phoenix where the family moved when my grandfather was "called" to pastor the Phoenix Church of God. We moved to Southern California when I was a small girl in 1946. More than you wanted to know! |
