Facts and Events
Henry Flannery was my great, great grandfather. He was a farmer, carpenter and stonemason. He built two homes for his 2 wives, Margaret Jane Callan, and Matilda Booth. The homes are both on Red Corner Road, Union Township, Douglassville, PA. Margaret's house is at the corner of Red Corner and Douglass Rds. The farmhouse he built for Matilda Booth in 1869 is located at 465 Red Corner Rd, part of what was originally Kerlin land acquired by Jacob Kerlin, left to William Kirlin (who built the white stucco 3 story house behind the farmhouse), then to Henry Flannery Kirlin and then to Harry Foster Kirlin, my great grandfather. Harry sold the property to move to Philadelphia. My grandfather and aunt were born in the white stucco house. There is a spring flowing through the white stucco house, used for keep items cold. The farm house was heavily remodeled in 2009, yet combines many of the original features of the flooring, bannisters, fireplaces, and kitchen cabinets, with modern conveniences including a third floor jacuzzi. Henry would wonder why people now bathe so frequently! George Kirlin |
