According to "History of Union Co., IA" Henry farmed in Iowa until 1861 when he left for CA, finally settling in Cloverdale, where he died in 1871.

" By trade he was a miller and after his removal from Virginia to Tennessee was engaged in the milling business in the latter state for twelve years.  Subsequently he took up his abode in Morgan Co., IL where he followed farming for eighteen months prior to his removal to Marion Co., Iowa in 1853.  Two years later, in 1855, he entered land from the govt., securing a claim on sections 21 and 22, New Hope township, where he had one hundred and sixty acres."
