H.E. HAWORTH, PROMINENT AROMA FARMER, TELEPHONE MANAGER, DIES-

H.E. Haworth, 77, prominent farmer and manager of the Aroma Telephone Co. for 42 years, died Thursday afternoon at Mercy hospital after an illness of one week. He suffered a stroke one week ago. Mr. Haworth gave up the management of the telephone company two years ago to become president of the firm. A prominent farmer, Mr. Haworth was born Dec. 6, 1872 in Hamilton county on the farm where he lived until his death. He was the son of Williamson and Louisa Haworth. He married Ala Leeman on Nov. 7, 1896. She survives. He was a member of the Aroma Methodist church, Frankton K of P and Otterbein Brother and Sisterhood.

Surviving with the widow are: two daughters, Mrs. Mary Louisa Miller of Tipton; Mrs. Caroline Johnson near Aroma; son Basil Haworth near Aroma; brother O.C. Haworth of San Antonio, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Ocie Hawkins of Elwood; Mrs. Essie Beck of Franklin and five grandchildren.

The body was taken from the Copher and Fesler funeral home to the family home shortly after noon today. Friends may call there until 1:30 p.m. Sunday when the body will be taken to the Aroma church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rev. E.J. Hamilton and Rev. Thurman Addison officiating. Burial will be in the Aroma cemetery. BASIL HAWORTH-

Basil Haworth, 83, Rt.1, Atlanta, died Friday morning at the Vermillion County Hospital in Clinton. Born Oct. 3, 1908, in Hamilton County, he was the son of H.E. and Viola Leeman Hayworth. He was married Dec.26, 1934, to Miriam Cox. She preceded him in death Feb.11, 1984. He was a retired farmer in Hamilton County and a member of the Aroma United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elwood Masonic Lodge, the Elwood Lions Club and the Scottish Rite of Valley of Indianapolis. He also served as a member of the Hamilton County Council during the 1950s.

Surviving are: one daughter, Dottie Evett of Michigan City; one son, Bill Hayworth of Rockville; one sister, Carolyn Johnson of Atlanta; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one sister, Louisa Miller. Services will be at 2p.m. Monday at the Aroma United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnathan Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in the Aroma Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home. Masonic memorial services are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
