In 1881 he was aged 25 and living at 32 Sun Street, Brighton, Sussex,England with wife Jane (25) and children Edith (6), Henry (4), Eliza (2), Charles (2 months) and widowed mother Sarah Gaston aged 50. Note that 32 Sun street was also the address of William Kelly Snr and son George Kelly in 1881. Street no longer exists but in 1881 numbers went ....30,31,32,33.... with neighbours on either side. Kellys and Gastons not recorded as being in the same household.

1891 - Family at 62 John Street, Brighton, Sussex. Eldest son, Henry (14), occupation given as 'baker'. Also in household is his 61 year old mother, who's name is given as 'Dark Gaston'. Marital status is given as 'M', but this is probably a mistake.

1901- aged 46 living as boarder at 6 Priory Grove, Lambeth, London. Bricklayer's labourer. Household = Septimus Rowe (22, Melal plane maker), wife Elizabeth S (23) and daughter Gertrude E Rowe (1).
