- ↑ only registration around this time is 1868, age "nr", but there is a "settler" of Abbot's Creek, Green Island, shown in the Probate index for 1869, and the Green Island Headstones include a 41 yr old Henry in 1869 (which isn't quite right if born 1824 - but there's also a 91 yr old Jane DOIG listed for Green Island headstones).
The lack of registration may be explained by this newspaper item (although this date also doesn't match the 18 Sep 1869 shown elsewhere):
Yesterday mornirg, between seven and eight o'clock, a settler named Henry Doig committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Green Island, Doig, it appears, has been complaining for the last 12 months of pains in the head, and latterly he has been confined to bed. Deceased's wife had only left him for a few minutes, and on returning she found that he had hanged himself from a joist of the roof with his strap. He was promptly cut down, but life was found to be extinct. An inquest is to be held to-day, at Green Island, at 2.30 p.m.
