- Rockingham Co. VA Administrators Bonds, 28 April 1788.
- Know all Men by these Presents, That We Brower, John Hamer & Henry Cook are held and firmly bound to Gawin Hamilton, Wm. Herring, Benj. Smith, William Dunlap and John Perkey, Gent. Justices of the Court of Rockingham sitting, in the Sum of One hundred and fifty pounds, To the Payment whereof well and tryly to be made to said Justices, and their Successors, we bind ourselves, and each of us, our and each of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals the 28th Day or April ~ in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty eight
and in the ___ Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second.
- The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above bound John Hamer, Executor of the Last Will and Testament of Henry Black Deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect Inventory of all and singluar Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased, which at any Time after shall come to the Hands, Possession, or Knowledge of the said John Hamer or into the Hands and Possession of any other Person or Persons for him do well and truely administer according to Law: And further to make a true and just Account of his Actings and Doings therein, when thereto required by the said Court; and also, shall well and truely pay and deliver all the Legacies contained and specified in the said Testament, as far as the said Goods, Chattels and Credits, will thereunto extend, and the Law shall charge: Then this Obligation will be void and none Effect, or else to remain in full Force and Virtue.

- Rockingham County, VA Court Records. 28 April 1788. Ordered that Francis Kertly, Stephen Conrad, Peter Conrad & Matthias Carsh or any three of them being first sworn do appraise the Estate of Henry Black Deceased and Make Return according to Law.
- Rockingham County, VA Court Records. 23 June 1788. The appraisement bill of the Estat[e] of Henry Black Deceased was Returned & Ordered to be Recorded.
