Henry Battershell was a planter from Kent Co., MD. Had a will found in the MARYLAND CALENDER OF WILLS 1713-1720. His Will #13.715 was dated 28 Jan 1714. Names his heirs: wife Rachel, sons: William & Henry to inherit the Battershell Plantation in Kent Co.,MD, called Arcadia. If one son died the estate was to go to the next youngest surviving son. Although Henry does not mention them in his will, prob. because of their young ages (John & Freeman). Henry specifies in his Will that 20 shillings of common money were to be distributed to his brothers.

The early American Battershell's lived on a plantation called "ARCADIA" near the town of Fairlee, Kent Co., MD. This village was frequented by Gen. George Washington.

Note: There was a Henery Battershell listed as ship's quartermaster on a 1616 journey called Brawde's Voyage from England to "New England". Edward Brawde described this journey in a letter to Capt. John Smith of New England. This Henery is not the same Henry the planter from Kent Co., MD, as he was not born until 1658.

Note: "From the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants", copyright 1953, Index of Person's Vol. 1-34: The surname BATTESHAL: Deborah, Hannah, May, WILLIAM are listed. Not clear as to whether or not these individuals were on the Mayflower to Plymouth Colony in 1620. Maybe they sailed at a later date.
