From the St. Joseph Herald Press, Thursday, Oct. 4, 1962: Henry Akright, 81, route 1 River road, Sodus, died at 2:20 a.m. today in Mercy hospital where he had been a patient since Friday. He had been seriously ill for one week. Mr. Akright was born Nov. 6, 1880 in Sodus, and spent his entire life on the farm which had been in his family for over 100 years. His wife, the former Vermettia Coble, whom he married March 10, 1900 in Servia, Ind., died June 12, 1961. Survivors include two sons, Donald of Sodus and Chester of Coloma; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Florin funeral home where funeral arrangements were incomplete this afternoon.
