Obit of 20 Sep 1966 in RI Argus.[TH-IL 43] “Mrs. Theus, 68, Taken by Death; Rites Thursday Mrs. Helena C. Theus, 68, of 924 7th Ave., Rock Island, died at 11:05 last evening in a Quad-City hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 Thursday morning in th Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, with the Rev. George J. Schroeder, pastor of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Rock Island, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 tomorrow evening. Mrs. Theus, the former Helena Sansale, was born Aug 23, 1898 in Moline, a daughter of Benjamin and Louise Gerave Sansale. She was raised and educated in Moline and had been a resident of Rock Island since 1918. She was married to Lawrence F. “Boots” Theus many years ago in Rock Island. Surviving are the widower, one son, Harry L. Theus, Rock Island, five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Purcell and Mrs Kenneth Kinkead, both of Moline, and two brothers, Emil Sansale, East Moline, and Frank Sansale of Moline. She was preceeded in death by her parents, one infant daughter and four brothers.”

DC [TH-IL 110; State file # 61551] reports that she died of a coronary spasm due to gastric dilatation and massive internal bleeding of unknown origin; she had been a patient in the East Moline State Hospital for the mentally ill for 11 years 7 months; SS# 330-09-9447; names of parents (but mother’s name given as De Grace; housewife; informant was the hospital medical librarian!
