Waukesha Freeman (WI) - December 5, 2000

WAUKESHA Helen A. Gonia (nee Opat), of Waukesha, formerly of Bay View, was born to eternal life on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at age 90. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Peter M. Gonia. She was the loving mother of Elizabeth (Raymond) Voigt, Michael (Beth) and Richard (Karen) Gonia. She was the dearest sister of Richard (Adelle), the late Ernest (Ruth) and Joseph Opat. She was the proud grandmother of Steven Voigt, Amy (Kevin) Huckstep, Adam and Matthew Gonia. She was also the fond sister-in-law of Beatrice and Geneva Gonia. She is further survived by dear friends at East Terrace. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First United Methodist Church are appreciated. Borgwardt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, (414) 425-6060, is serving the family.
