Helen (Pat) A. Andersen, 86, of Sugar Grove, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren, PA, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Sugar Grove, PA to the late Ralph E. and Loretta S. Abbott on May 2, 1923. She was the wife of the late Stuart L. Andersen whom she married on June 25, 1945. She and her husband owned and operated S. T. Andersen and Son Feed Mill in Sugar Grove for 55 years. Earlier she worked for the Social Security Administration in Jamestown, NY.
She enjoyed knitting, reading and being with her family. She had a great interest in trap shooting with her husband at the former Sugar Grove Rod & Gun Club where she helped with running the trap shoots and cooked and served food for the trap league. She and her husband traveled extensively with their many friends to out of state shoots.
She was a member of the Sugar Grove Legion Post 758 and recently received her 60 year pin. She was also a member of the AmVets Club of Sugar Grove.
She is survived by a daughter Linda A. Strand (Dutch) Sugar Grove, a son Michael L. Andersen of Gulfport, MS, a nephew Ross R. Porter (Nancy) of Indiana; Six grandchildren Jeanne Toy (Ted) Falconer, NY, Patricia Hockinson Pittsburgh PA, Daniel C. Strand, Pittsburgh, PA, Michael Andersen (Melinda) Gulfport, MS, Kim Andersen, Gulfport, MS, Scott Andersen (Mandy) Gulfport, MS and five great grandchildren; a brother Jack Abbott (Janet) Warren, PA, a sister Jane (Bob) Johnson of Erie PA; and several nieces and nephews.
