Heinrich and his family emigrated from Munsingen, Germany in 1749. It is believed they sailed on the FANE which arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with 184 passengers on October 17, 1749. They settled in the Schuylkill area . After living there about 14 years, they, together with several families chartered a vessel to take them to the Petitcodiac River in New Brunswick The sloop was commanded by a Captain Hall. They settled on land previously owned by Acadians. The name was changed to Steeves about 1770.
