Will Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Henr- Armentrout of the County of Rockingham a[nd] state of Virginia being weak in body t0---- of perfect mind and memory and ------ to mind the mortality of my so[ul] ----- ---- to die do make Ordain Constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following first and principally I humbly recomment my soul to god who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came to be Buried in a deacent Christian like Manner at the discretion of my Executors of this my will and calling to mind the worldly estate that it hath pleased god to bless me with in this life I decire [desire] and dispose of in the sum as follows to witt, I direct my Executors to make sale of so much of my movable Estate as will be sufficient to pay off all my just & lawfull debts together with funeral Charles.
Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Elizabeth Earmentrout all my real & personal Estate to her and it is my will that my beloved wife shall be fully Autherised to make sale & Dispose of my real and personal estate when Ever she shall think best and to take the same money Erizing [Arising] from my real & personal estate and Buy other lands for the same to to [sic] the pest [best] advantage to her and my Children as long as they live or Continue to be my widow which ever of these two things happens first, that is to say her death of marriage ------- well that whatever -------- cause to he same ----------- price by way of Public sale that can be---- and the same to be equally divided among --- Children namely, William Earmentroud, Barb--- Armentrout, Molly Armentrout, Elizabeth Earmentroud, Susanna Armentroud, Henry Earmentroud, Jacob Earmentroud, Ann Armen{troud}, Sally Armentroud.
And as for my real estate I order and give the same to my son William Earmentrout to him and his heirs --- assigns forever that is to say if my Children those that may be of age at that time can agree in the Choice three honest disinterested honest men and those men to ---- on the Brimices and Value the said land and amprovements [improvements] thereon what they be worth and my son William Earment{roud} is to pay his Brothers and Sisters as before named an equal share of the said saluation begin---- at the eldest first till to the youngest such ap---- as those three men may appoint for him to pay yearly agreeable to the proportion of the valuation of the land Any sum that they shall think proper reserving one full share for himself and the first payment to be in twelve months after the deat[h] or marriage of my beloved wife the ------ to receive their share first and ---------- price my land among them in that case Toroter and Dreckt [direct] my Executor to make Choice for them and the Buissanes to to on and then if my son William Earmentrout s[h]ould think that the land was Bricet too high or the yearly payment two Stipelated by these three men he may refuse the land if it should so happen in that case I order my Executors to make sale of my land by way of Publick Sale and the money to be divided as before mentioned and if my wife should die or marry before my Children is raised and schoold then in that Case I direct my Executors to raise my Children and School them as they think right and proper out of my estate either real or personal this I expect will be carefully Done and performed by my loving Brother in Law Jacob Eargabright and my beloved wife Elizabeth Earmantrout, whom I do Appoint my whole and sole executors to this to be my last will and testament ratifying and Confirming this & no other to be my last will and testament.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this ninth day of July 1806.

The Last will and testament of Henry Armentrout deceased was presented in Co[urt] and proven by the Oaths of John Koontz ---[and] Henry Sipe two of the Witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded and On the motion of Jacob Argabright and Elizabeth Arment[rout] the executors therein named who made oat[h] thereto and with security entered into and acknowledged bond conditioned as the law directs a certificate is granted them to obtain a probate thereof in due form.
