SHOFFNER, 68, of Rt. 1, Burlington, a well-known building contractor, died Tuesday morning at his home following four months of declining health and two weeks of critical illness. A native of Alamance County. Mr. SHOFFNER was the son of the late Duncan Monroe and Martha Jane SHOFFNER. He was the husband of Mrs.. Josephine Shelley SHOFFNER of the home, who survives, and was a member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ. Mr. SHOFFNER, a lifelong resident of the Alamance Battleground community, was instrumental in securing an adequate site for the State Historic Site at Alamance Battleground. He, along with others, attempted to secure federal assistance in establishing a IS Alamance Battleground, b u t World War II interrupted their efforts and this was never accomplished. |
