Harvey Dugger was born ca 1810/1811 per his age on the 1850 census (39). That census also records his birth place as North Carolina. If correct, he was probably born in Columbus Co., NC.

His parents are unidentified, but he is undoubtedly part of the John Dugger (c1741) family. It seems almost certain that Harvey is a brother to Nathaniel Dugger (c1803) for in 1860 several of Nathaniel's children were living with Harvey, and his widow was living next door.

Harvey is listed on the 1840 census in Effingham Co., GA.

Harvey moved south to Lowndes Co., GA in the 1850's. His probable brother Nathaniel Dugger (c1803) was living there. The area they lived in became Brooks County in 1858.

Harvey is listed on the 1860 census in Brooks with several of Nathaniel's children living with him. Mary, widow of Nathaniel was living next door.
