12D.5 Harry Edwards(4) RITTGERS (Henry3, Jacob2, John1) was born 13 Jan 1884[SS] in Lone Pin e, Inyo Co., Calif., the son of Henry C. RITTGERS and Luesia Jennette EDWARDS. He is on th e 1900 census, age 16, with his parents in Emmetsburg, Palo Alto Co., Ia.[ED 151, p 12A, fa m #22/22] Harry graduated 1903 from Glenwood, Minn., High School and attended the U. of Minn. , taking business courses and shorthand. He married (1) Ruth IWEN 15 Dec 1907 in Minot, Ward , N.D. She died 28 Jun 1909. We are told "He worked for R.A. Neston in Minot, N.D., who late r became governor of N.D. He was a court reporter then, but later studied law and was admitt ed to the bar June 1913. Harry practiced Law in Jamestown, Stutsman Co., and was District Co urt Reporter of the District Court, until April 1919. Since that time he solely engaged in L aw." Harry married (2) Ethel HEALY. She was born 1888. On the 1920 census, Jamestown, Stuts man Co., Minn., age 35, "Lawyer, office in city". With him is wife Ethel, 32, caring for th e two children we are told they adopted, as well as Mrs. Bell Healey, Mother in Law., age 58 , b. Canada. Bell declares her parents both born in Canada. Bell further states she immigrat ed in 1883 and is naturalized. Their address is given as 420 2nd Ave., N., in Jamestown.[ED 2 39, p 9, fam #168/188] "For about 10 years, 1922-1932, was in practice with John W. Garr, lat er Lt. Governor of N.D. During this time he was also assistant State's Attorney for the Count y of Stutsman, and then City Attorney for Jamestown, N.D. Ethel died 8 Jan 1935. Harry marrie d (3) Cytella DAHN 27 Mar 1937. She was born 3 Oct 1900.[SS] She was an attorney, having at tended law school in Minneapolis. We are told she "earned her own way being an efficient ste nographer and accountant." She was admitted to the bar in June 1934, and has been the officia l court reporter of the district court. Her parents were of German descent, and farmers nea r Jamestown, having lived prior to that near Madison, Wisc. about 1909. He practiced alon e until 1941, when he took in a new partner. Harry died Dec 1971 in ND. Cytella died May 197 8 in Stutsman County, ND. References
