    HARRY BUCKMAN HIT BY CAR
    --------------------------------------------------
Driver of Car Was Glenn Conger, A Minor

Harry C. Buckman was injured on Wednesday evening when he was struck by a car on the corner of Raymond and Market streets. Mr. Buckman, foreman of the Courier and Freeman office, was crossing at the safety zone when the accident occurred. The driver of the car was Glenn Conger, a minor, whose home is on Hopkinton road.
Two cars were going south on Market and one crowded the other to the center of the street. The car on the right stopped at the blinker and allowed the car driven by young Conger to pass. Mr. Buckman assumed from the actions of the drivers that they were both turning into Elm street, and proceeded toward the center of the street. The driver claims that he did not see Mr. Buckman owing to the lights and rain on the windshield.
Mr. Buckman was taken to the offices of Dr. Baldwin for examination and emergency treatment and was later removed to his home on Main St. The extent of his injuries could not be fully determined, but he is painfully bruised about the legs and back and is suffering from shock.
The police officers and spectators commended the Conger boy for his courtesy and general behavior under the trying circumstances. He holds a junior license, which does not permit driving after dark unless accompanied by a guardian, and for this reason, Guy Conger, father of the boy, is held responsible for the accident. The case was adjourned pending the outcome of Mr. Buckman's injuries.
A junior license permits the holder to drive to school or on any business which the guardian desires, but it does not permit driving for pleasure nor from one hour after sundown to one hour before sunrise unless accompanied by a guardian.

A Tribute to the Late Harry C. Buckman

In publishing the 88th anniversary number of the Courier & Freeman we would be remiss in not mentioning the late Harry C. Buckman, who for many years was its mechanical superintendent. Unfortunately, we have no photograph available, so will mention that he was a most efficient newspaper man, faithful to his task and no man ever took more pride in his work than did Mr. Buckman. He passed away about four years ago after spending more than twenty years in this office.
