Facts and Events
Census records and family tradition agree that Joseph Parker, Harriet Slone, and their children emigrated from England. A surviving ship's manifest lists Harriet, Emma, John, and Margt [Mary?] as originating from Ireland. The date of the manifest (1852) agrees with the immigration dates given in the 1900 and 1910 Norwalk, OH censuses for Emma and Mary. The 1851 Manchester, Lancashire census lists Harriet and her children John, Emma, and Mary Ann. All four were born in Manchester, Lancashire according to the census. Joseph is not listed in the census. He may have emigrated to America before the rest of the family. In the 1851 England census the Parkers are living with the family of Thomas Sloan, 36 years old. Thomas may have been Harriet's brother or cousin. References
