FISCHER, HARRIETT SCHELLINGA passed away in Dallas on February 12, 2013 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by Harry Fischer, her husband of 52 years. Her parents were Henrietta and Andrew Schellinga, who immigrated from Holland at the beginning of the twentieth century. Survivors include her loving children, Susan Fischer and Mark Venable, of Sherman, Texas and Greg Fischer and his wife, Judy Fischer, of Highland Village, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Roossien and her husband, Dennis Roossien, of Dallas; great grandchildren, Sean, Adam and Avery Roossien of Dallas, Texas. When her children were grown Harriett finished her teaching degree at Texas Women's University. For the next 15 years she taught children with learning disabilities, all the while acquiring additional training in that field. Her teaching career was ended in 1982 when her husband suffered a major stroke. She spent the next 13 years caring for him at home. Throughout her life she remained very active and connected with dear friends. Above all, she reveled in the ultimate blessing of being involved with family members. With her love, patience and wisdom she touched the lives of all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 12:30 PM at the Wildwood Chapel with Rev. John Thornton officiating. References
