She was born and raised in Ridgway, daughter of Charles and Cordelia Sassman. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Charles. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, John F. Laughner, who she met at Indiana State Teachers College of Pennsylvania.
Her husband's career provided her with the opportunity to live across the country, making lasting friendships wherever she resided. She moved to Treasure Lake in 1988, instantly falling in love with its natural beauty, especially the deer and hummingbirds that frequented her backyard. She was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed cross country and downhill skiing. She was an excellent cook, whose greatest joy was entertaining her family and friends. She was an active member of the Ladies of the Lake and the Red Hats Club. She also enjoyed crafts, making one of a kind decorations and gifts for her family, friends and even pets.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl (Laughner) Dixon of Edmond, OK; a son, J. Bradley Laughner and daughter in law, Sarah Laughner of Albertville, MN; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
