Gilliland, son of James Gilliland and Anna Farris, on 3 January 1859 at Marshall County, Mississippi.1 Harriet E. R. Norfleet and John F. Gilliland appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of North Mt. Pleasant, Marshall County, Mississippi, enumerated 24 July 1860. Their son Fletcher Norfleet was listed as living with them.3 Harriet E. R. Norfleet and John F. Gilliland appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of DeSoto County, Mississippi, enumerated 27 August 1870. Their children Fletcher Norfleet, William R. (Will), Edward C., Lena, Anna, Johnson and Hallie were listed as living with them.5 Harriet E. R. Norfleet and John F. Gilliland appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Coldwater, Tate County, Mississippi, enumerated June 1880. Their children Fletcher Norfleet, William R. (Will), Edward C., Lena, Anna, Johnson, Hallie and Eva were listed as living with them.6 Harriet E. R. Norfleet appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Coldwater, Tate County, Mississippi, enumerated 4 June 1900. Her children William R. (Will) and Hallie were listed as living with her.4 Harriet E. R. Norfleet died on 11 August 1909 at Coldwater, Tate County, Mississippi, at age 71.2 She was buried at Magnolia Cemetery, Coldwater, Tate County, Mississippi.2
