Harold Eugene Young, 86, of Fairmount, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville.
He was born July 27, 1924 in Danville, the son of Boyd Lowell and Minnie Crawford Young. He married Lois M. Cumrine on Jan. 27, 1946 in Danville. She died April 22, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Young and an infant brother and four sisters, Alberta Hansen, Inez Hall, Louise Lower Null and Peggy Ann Metz.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy (Mike) Rue of Amarillo, Texas; a son, Jerry (Helen) Young of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Rue and Julius Young and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Alexandra Rue.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943-1969 retiring as a senior master sergeant. He served in three wars, World War II, the Korean War and two tours during the Vietnam War.
