Harold F. Tullis was killed in action during the invasion of Normandy, D-Day, June 6, 1944, at Omaha Beach. He was on the landing craft LCI(L)-92 as a part of the 149th Engineers Combat Battalion. Nineteen soldiers on that landing craft were killed, including Pvt. Tullis, as it approached the beach and hit an underwater mine.
