According to Harold's niece, the James B. Shearer family settled in southern Saskatchewan until Harold was a young man. Harold moved to B.C. and took his parents with him. They lived with him till their deaths. Later in life, Harold and his cousin Alma Partington shared accommodations. Harold had pernicious anemia and benefited from Alma's cooking. Harold was a veteran of the first world war. His Regimental number: 3353272
