ELKHART -- Friends of Harold B. "Louie" Morgan may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, where funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dale Turner will officiate, and entombment will be at Rice Cemetery.

Mr. Morgan, 79, formerly of Union, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 4, 2007) at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born April 18, 1927, to Floyd and Lucille Morgan in Wakarusa. He married Doris M. Hertsel on July 14, 1960. She died in October of 1998.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan C. (Larry) Tebo of Elkhart and Nancy L. "Sid" (John) Cook of Goshen; a son, Michael L. (Marsha) Hertsel of Middlebury; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bess (Marty "Chic") Young of Tamarack, Fla.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Morgan Jr. and William Morgan.

Mr. Morgan had lived in Elkhart since September. He retired from Riblets, where he worked in the roofing department. He was an Army veteran who served with the Occupational Forces in Japan during World War II.

He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 599 and was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan.
