Syracuse Post Standard, 10 July 1967: RIFLE DEATH BELIEVED SUICIDE Oneida-- A 67-year-old Blossvale man apparently took his own life with a rifle Saturday night in a wooded area about 100 yards from Yeager Road, Town of Vienna. According to state police, the body of Harold H. Claus with gunshot wounds in the left chest and the left side of his face was discovered by his wife, Mrs. Verna Claus. The body was removed to Oneida City Hospital where an autopsy will be performed...

Syracuse Herald Journal, 11 July 1967: HAROLD J. CLAUS Camden-- Services for Harold J. Claus, 67, of Blossvale RD2, who died of a gunshot wound Saturday night will be... Tuesday at the Sanborn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Higginsville. A native of Oppenheim, Mr. Claus was a self-employed carpenter. He married the former Verna Collins in 1929 at Vienna. Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. John Whittemore of Endwell, Mrs. Russell Weidemann of San Jose, Calif; and Mrs. Kenneth Swanson of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sons, Wilbur of Glens Falls and Gerald E. Claus of Orlando, Fla., three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Foster of Durhamville; Mrs. Nancy Fowler of Oneida; and Mrs. Barney James of Salisbury Center, and a brother Walter Claus of Tampa, Fla.
