ACKLEY - Harley A. Janssen, 78, of Ackley died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 12, at Austinville Christian Reformed Church in Austinville with Rev. George McGuire officiating. Burial will be in the Austinville Cemetery.

Harley was born Aug. 1, 1925, to Oldie and Mary (Huesman) Janssen. He attended Aplington High School. On March 10, 1950, Harley was united in marriage to Julia Kuperus at Austinville. The couple farmed in the Ackley area.

Survivors include his wife, Julia of Ackley; one daughter, Mary Jo Louters and husband Larry of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sons, Hollis and wife Ardelle of Ackley and Harlyn and wife Charlane of Hampton; five grandchildren, Lauren, Jeremy and Julienne Louters, Harley P. Janssen and wife Jessica and Michael Janssen; step-grandchildren, Mike and Doug Pralle; one great-granddaughter, Jayna Janssen; two sisters, Anna Yorke and husband Roy of Cameron Park, Calif., and Mildred VanHove and husband Ben of Hampton; two brothers, Alfred and wife Kathy of Waverly and Dale and wife Lynda of Ackley; and many nephews and nieces.
