'Notes: According to the Danzig Flemish Mennonite Familienbuch, Vol. A, p. 6, he lived in the Grosswerder region of W. Prussia. He may have been the Hans Sawatsky mentioned in the Dutch Mennonite Name List of 1743 as minister in the Elbing Quarter of the Grosswerder Mennonite Congregation. This congregation later became part of the Rosenort Mennonite Church. It is possible that he was the Johann Sawatzky mentioned in the Gross Mausdorf Lutheran Burial Register as having been buried 27 Nov 1752 since the Gross Mausdorf Parish covered much of the area where Mennonites lived who were members of the Rosenort Mennonite Church. The Doreen Ediger submission contains a sheet that states: "He was the only Sawatzky from the group known as the Quietists, who joined the Mennonite Church. He would, there, be the paternal grandfather of all those who bear his name and whose parents were at one time a part of the Mennonite group." '
