Barnhart Ancestors by Janet Walther Conrad Brinker may have lived for a few years in Woodstock, Shenandoah Co. VA, where he had purchased a half acre lot in that town when it was first laid out, on 26 Apr. 1763 (p. 132 of A History of Shenandoah Co., Va by John W. Wayland, 1927.) But this land was leased 10 years later, 23 June 1772--"Conrad Brinker to Jacob Miller. A "release" document for this smae transaction names his wife as Barbara. (Deed Bk. A 60-62, abstracted in Shenandoah Co. BVA Deed Book series Vol. 1 A-D, 1772-1774, compiled by Amelia C. Gilreath, 1987). Conrad may have died in Shenandoah Co., VA about 1785, but I have no firm source for this date. Researchers of Conrad Brinker have often been confused by the presence of another Conrad/Konrad in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., PA during the Revoloutionary years. This Conrad was the oldest son of Johan George/Jurg Brinker, who had arrived in PA on 24 Oct. 1754 on the ship Mary & Sarah. This Brinker family was from Germany, not Switzerland. George settled in Upper Saucon Twp., as did his son Conrad. There was also a younger son Abraham, born in 1757. Conrad served in the Revol. War (his records have been confused by some as belonging to Conrad, son of Andreas). Conrad, son of George, lived all his life in Upper Saucon Twp. His wife was Catherine Miller. Baptism records for their 14 children ar at "Blue Church", St Pauls, Uppers Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co. This Conrad Brinker died in 1827.

Was in the Virginia Colonial Militia in 1761.

Census of 1783 & 1785 for Shenandoah Co., VA. 3. "A Hist. of Shenandoah Co., VA", John W. Wayland, 1927, p. 132 - half acre lot in Woodstock, VA, purchased 26 Apr. 1762 by Conrad Brinker. 4. "Shenandoah Co. VA, Deed Book Series, Vol.1, A-D, 1772-1784", compiled by Amelia C. Gilreath, 1987. Deed Bk. A:60-61 has lease of this land on 23 June 1772 by Conrad to Jacob Miller. 5.
