Identity

In Smith's The ancestry of Samuel Blanchard Ordway (p. 127, 1990), he states "Abraham's wife was not the widow Hannah (Osgood) Carleton, as has been suggested elsewhere." In the Collections of the Manchester Historical Society (7:13, 1914), it reads "Abraham, was born April 12, 1672, and resided in Newbury, Mass. He married Hannah, daughter of Christopher and Hannah (Belknap) Osgood, born October 19, 1668." Torrey identifies Abraham's wife as Hannah (?Osgood). Concerning Hannah, Smith continued "[t]hat Hannah and her husband John Carleton, both lived to good old ages in Andover, MA, as can be seen in that town's vital records"

From the above, it seems improbable that Hannah was Hannah Osgood, wife of John Carleton.
