John Barber supposed to have been killed in a skirmish soon after the letter was written but no certain knowledge was ever obtained of his fate.
His widow Hannah m. (2) --- Stone, of Sudbury or Marlborough. She d. a widow before 20 Feb 1784. In her will, dated 21 Mar 1783, she names children: "Abigail Barber widow of my son John Barber", Samuel, Oliver, Nathan, Ephraim and Silas Barber, "grandchildren of my beloved daughter Abigail Loker dec'd and my beloved daughter Hannah Loker dec'd" [presumably Hannah's grandchildren, children of the two daughters]. William Baldwin of East Sudbury to be executor. Agreement of heirs dated 10 Nov 1786 involving Ephraim Barber of Marlborough, Nathan, Oliver and Silas Barer, Henry Locar with Hannah his wife, Moses Locar, Benj. Mills and Sarah his wife, Jeremiah Smith and Mary his wife.
