Facts and Events
Hannah Parrett was baptised on 18th August 1782 in the parish of St Peter in the town of St Albans, Hertfordshire. She was the daughter of John and Alice Parrett, who lived at New Barnes, to the south of the town.
On 12th September 1803, aged 21, Hannah married a miller called Joseph Hornet. He was originally from Welwyn, a few miles north-east of St Albans, but they married at Southwark, in the southern suburbs of London. After their marriage, they returned to St Albans, where they had seven children baptised between 1806 and 1821. The first child was baptised in the parish of St Peter there, whilst the other six (including twins in 1810) were baptised in the parish of St Stephen. One of the children's baptisms in 1814 notes that the family lived at Park Street, a hamlet in the parish of St Stephen a little way to the south of the town of St Albans itself.
The 1841 census finds Hannah and Joseph living at Park Street Lane.
Joseph died in 1846, being buried at St Stephen's church in St Albans on 2nd April 1846, aged 68. Hannah died later that same year. She was buried at St Stephen's on 26th November 1846, aged 64.

1782 / Baptised / Aug[us]t / 18 / Parrat / Hannah D[aughter] of John & Alice Parrat of New Barns
This baptism has been linked to the Hannah Parrett who married Joseph Hornet on the basis that it is in the adjoining parish to the one in which they lived most of their adult life together, and at around the time implied by the age quoted when she died. The 1841 census also confirms that she was born in the county, and she also had children called both John and Alice, which were the names of the parents of the Hannah baptised in 1782.
