Origins

While her parents' marriage and the baptisms of all of her siblings are recorded in Rehoboth, MA, her 1748 birth is not. Her father may have moved to Cumberland, RI by that time OR he may have converted to the Baptist practice of not baptizing infants by then.

Timeline

4 Aug 1768: Thomas Barber and Hannah Miller are married in Cumberland, RI [she was 5-6 months pregnant] (Rehoboth, MA VR - marriages performed elsewhere)

14 Nov 1768: Esther Barber, dau of Thomas and Hannah, born in Rehoboth, a little over 3 months after their marriage (Rehoboth VR)

18 Sept 1770: Thomas Barber, Jr., son of Thomas and Hannah, born in Warwick, MA (Warwick VR)

26 April 1773: Benjamin Barber born probably in Warwick, MA, but not recorded there, son of Hannah and Thomas Barber. (Were Hannah and Thomas also practicing Baptists by now and not baptizing their infants?)

28 May 1775: Hannah Barber and Sibbyl Barber born probably in Warwick, MA, but not recorded there, twin daughters of Hannah and Thomas Barber.

2 July 1777: Daniel Barber born probably in Warwick, MA, but not recorded there, son of Hannah and Thomas Barber.

Summer 1778: Elder Hix "spiritual wife-ism" controversy culminates in Warwick, MA. Hannah runs off (at least temporarily) with Amzi Doolittle, Sr.

abt. 1778-1781: Thomas moves family to Townshend, VT. Amzi Doolittle and his unmarried children also go to Townshend.

11 Dec 1781: Sally Barber born Townshend VT, dau of Hannah and Thomas Barber. (Townshend VR)

4 Aug 1783: Ebenezer (Eber) Barber born Townshend VT , son of Hannah and Thomas Barber. (Townshend VR)

5 Jun 1785: Calvin Barber born in Townshend, VT, son of Hannah and Thomas Barber. (Townshend VR)

09 Oct 1787: Hannah Miller (divorced spouse of Thomas Barber) married Amzi Doolittle Sr., Townshend, VT. (Townshend VR). Therefore, Hannah is NOT the mother of Amzi's children born before this time.

26 Feb 1788: Amzi Doolittle Jr. marries Esther Barber (daughter of Hannah Miller Barber Doolittle and Thomas Barber) in Townshend, VT (VR)

17 July 1791: Thomas Barber (divorced spouse of Hannah Miller Barber Doolittle) marries Abigail Chase in Townshend, VT (VR)

19 Jun 1798, Hannah Barber (dau of Thomas and Hannah) marries Origin Doolittle (son of Amzi Doolittle and Jerusha Smith). (Townshend VR)

Abt. 1824: Hannah and Amzi, along with those of their children who married each other (Amzi Jr. and Esther; Origin and Hannah) as well as Sibbel and her son Hiram Shepard Doolittle (fathered by Shepard, adopted by Amzi Doolittle Jr.), moved to Winchester, NH.

1826: Hannah Miller Barber Doolittle dies; Amzi buries her next to his oldest brother-- the oldest burial site in the Winchester cemetery.

1830: Amzi Doolittle Sr. dies; his children bury him next to Hannah.
