    Hannah Elizabeth Gordon was born 28 September 1817 at "Springfield," Albemarle County, Virginia, the third of eleven children of General William Fitzhugh Gordon and Elizabeth Lindsay. She married William Joseph Robertson at "Edgeworth" in Albemarle County 16 August 1842. "Edgeworth" is a Virginia plantation house built by her father in 1838.** They were married before a beautiful mantle in the entry hall. Hannah and William J Robertson had 9 children between 1843 and 1859, Elizabeth Lindsay, 1843, Lucy Gordon, 1845, Sarah Brand 1847, Kohn McBrair, 1849, Maria Gordon, 1850, Mary Carter, 1853, William Gordon, 1856, Nanny Morris, 1858, Reuben Lindsay, 1859.
