1. When Hanna's mother died in 1882, the family oral history was that Hanna was given the responsibility of keeping the house and raising her brother and sisters until Mans remarried to Johanna 11 June 1886 in York County , Nebraska. Even after the marriage, Hanna now age 18, was expected to continue to keep the house, raise her brother and sisters and take on the responsibility of Johanna's 14 year old daughter, Karna (Carrie).

2. Hanna was ordained as a missionary by the Scandinavian Mission Society of the United States, October 28, 1899, Ballard, Washington.
