The Obituary of Hamp Hudson Sims The Southern Democrat Oneonta, Blount Co., Alabama Friday, May 25, 1950 Hamp Hudson Sims Hamp Hudson Sims, 67, of R. 3, Oneonta, leading citizen in his community, died at the residence at an early hour Tuesday. His death followed an extended illness from cancer. The funeral was held Wednesday at Remlap M. E. Church, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Ellis Johnson conducted the services. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Birdie Sims; one son, Herbert Sims, R. 3, Oneonta; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Haynie, Independence, MO., Mrs. C. W. Stone and Mrs. C. V. Starkey, both or Birmingham; three sisters, Mrs. Florida Longhurst, Gamerco, N. Mex.; Mrs. Esther Stephenson, Oneonta, R. 3; Mrs. Lois Landers, Anniston; eleven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brown-Service was in charge of funeral arrangements.
