Obituary--Gwendolyn I. Peterson, 85, died May 5, 1995 at Pratt Regional Medical Center. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, with the Rev. Jay Anderson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m to 8 p.m. Monday and until service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Haviland Cemetery. She was born Feb. 8, 1910, at Haviland, the daughter of Wesley and Frances E. Adams Thorpe. In 1950 she married Herman Peterson at Cheyenne, Who. He died in 1957. She attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, and graduated from Friends University, Wichita. A Pratt resident for five years, she was a retired schoolteacher, having taught for more than 40 years in Bucklin, Haviland, Montezuma, Billings, Mont., Fort Collins, Colo., and Denver. She retired from the Denver school system in 1975. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Martha Guild, both of Pratt. Survivors include Stephen F. Thorpe, Kildeer, Ill.; a grandnephew; and two grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Francis A. Thorpe.
