History as far as known
William Price was a child of about six years old when he came with his parents along with the rest of their family to the Midlands from Monmouthshire.
His father being a stonemason, came to do repair work on the locks on the Birmingham & Worcester canal.
While working at Tardebigge near Bromsgrove, he was drowned in one of the locks, leaving a widow with a family of boys.
The older boys like their Father were stonemasons, so the
widow decided to come to Hasbury, where there was then a
stone quarry.
The older boys found work in the quarry, where William being the ,youngest, joined them as soon as he was old enough.
