William the Great (; 969 – 31 January 1030) was duke of Aquitaine (as ) and count of Poitou (as or III) from 990 until his death. Upon the death of the emperor Henry II, he was offered the kingdom of Italy but declined to contest the title against Conrad II.

    Guillaume V d'Aquitaine1 dit le Grand, né vers 969, mort le 31 janvier 1030 à l'abbaye de Maillezais. Fils de Guillaume II de Poitiers dit Fierabras et d'Emma de Blois, fille du comte de Blois, Thibaud Ier dit « le Tricheur ». En succédant à son père qui abdique et se retire à l'abbaye Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers en janvier 993, il devient comte de Poitiers (sous le nom de Guillaume III de Poitiers) et duc d'Aquitaine à sa mort.
