No documentary evidence has been found to date regarding Guilielmus van Eeuwijk. The only reason that we know that he must have existed is that Gisbertus (Guilielmi) van Eeuwijk must have had a father called Guilielmus van Eeuwijk. And if Gisbertus (Guilelmi) van Eeuwijk is indeed the father of Wilhelmus (Gisberti) van Eeuwijk, then Guilielmus van Eeuwijk is the oldest "van Eeuwijk" in the Bommelerwaard branch of the "van Eeuwijk" last name for whom we know a name. But this is all we know. It is likely that Guilielmus van Eeuwijk was born in the years soon after the Treaty of Westphalia that led to the recognition of the independence of the Seven United Provinces of the Netherlands from Spain. And it is probable that he was born in Maren. But other than these hints, Guilielmus is, at least to date, lost in the mists of time.
