Griffith lived on a tract of land near Nelson's Mill, Cessna, St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania which he inherited from his father, Samuel Mickle. This tract of 184 acres was known as "Union" and was bought by Samuel on April 10, 1793 from Robert and Nancy Tate. Warrant from Proprietaries to Francis Campbell on May 31, 1763. Part of The tract was sold to John Wisegarver, Sr. of St. Clair Township.

Griffith was an edge-tool and auger maker.

In his later years, Griffith lived with his son John in Washington, Iowa (Hood River section), where he died.

Listed as an original member (1833) of The Schellsburg Presbyterian Church along with Rebecca Mickel who may have been his wife.
