Grayson was the son of Grayson H. Crumrine Sr. (1895-1980) and Mary (Hess) Crumrine (1897-1984). Grayson attended East Washington High School in Washington, PA, the State Teachers College at California, Pennsylvania and one and half years at Waynesburg College(Pennsylvania). On March 20, he became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Engineer Corp. Grayson met his death by drowning while stationed at Camp Reynolds, Shenango Personnel Replacement Depot, Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
