- ↑ Gordon Doyle Queen, 87, of Lebanon, Tenn., formerly of Morganton and Monroe, Mich., died July 17 at his daughter’s home.
Born in McMinn County, Tenn., May 21, 1921, Mr. Queen was the son of the late Ira Gordon and Florence Turner Queen. He was a World War II veteran serving in Europe where he earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Queen was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; three children; four sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Bill Austin; grandchildren Bill, Angie, Chris, and Danny; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister Odell Chancey. Funeral services were held July 21 from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Hadley Shields officiating. Music was by Beverly Thompson. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens.
