Glenn Ellison Ostrom, 81, of Paxton, died at 10:34 p.m. Monday, March 22, 1999 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Memorial services were held Thursday at Federated Presbyterian Church, Paxton, with the Rev. Jerry Hoffman and Dr. John H. Eastwood officiating. the burial was private at Glen Cemetery in Paxton.
Mr. Ostrom was born Dec. 10, 1917, at Paxton, the son of John and Hannah Ellison Ostrom. He married Lois M. Jordan on Aug. 22, 1942 at E. Chicago, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, James Ostrom of Bayou Vista, Texas, John Ostrom of Alvin, Texas, five daughters, Caralee Geisler of Grand Rapids, Minn.; Linda Simmons and Susan Pierce, both of League City, Texas; Mary Jean Dahlgren of Des Moines, Iowa, and Laurie Johnson of Duluth, Minn.; 26 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Putnam of Santa Rosa, Calif. and numerous other relatives.
Mr. Ostrom spent his early years in Paxton. He graduated from Washington High School in E. Chicago, INd., and attended trade school at Indiana University. He and Mrs. Ostrom lived in Hammond, Ind. for many years where he worked as a machinist before moving to Paxton in 1979. He was a member of the Federated Presbyterian Church of Paxton and his interest were woodworking and playing golf.
