Mildred Louise Hilmes Keller

1925–2011


ildred Hilmes Keller was second child born to John H. Hilmes and Dorothy Mary Papst Hilmes on August 13, 1925 at Paola, Kansas. Her family later moved to Ransom, Kansas where she attended school. Upon graduation she lived in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked at North American Aviation Plant where the B-25 Bombers were built during WWII.

Mildred married Glen E. Keller, Jr., September 16, 1952 in Great Bend, Kansas. Her husband preceded her in death on February 25, 1972. He was co-owner of K&R Electric Company in Lindsay. Mildred passed from this life on January 7th, 2011.

Mildred was employed at Lindsay Municipal Hospital as Business Office Manager, retiring after 20 years of service. She also volunteered for the Lindsay Chamber of Commerce for many years.

Mildred is survived by her only child, Karla Kuykendall and her husband, Dean. Also, by two grandsons, Klinton Kyle Kuykendall and wife Jami, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Kory James Kuykendall, Stillwater,OK; expecting first great grandson, Kyson Brantly; two sisters, Loretta Ummel of Lindsay, Mary Klitzke of Ellis, Kansas; five brothers, Francis, Marvin, Robert, Ronald, and Loren Hilmes, all living in the state of Washington; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister, Johnetta Matter, and brothers, Chet, Harold, and Steven Hilmes.

A wake will be held between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at B.G. Boydston Chapel at 308 SW Third, Lindsay, OK.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Keller is set for ten o'clock a.m., Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, OK with Father Michael Vaught officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, OK.
