Gladys was the daughter of Elias and Lucinda (Wilson) York. Lucinda had two children from her first marriage to David Storey. Those children were James and Olive. Elias and Lucinda had seven children who lived to adulthood. In addition to Gladys they were Ethel, Mabel, Gertrude, Nettie, Laura and Muriel.
After Ross's death, Gladys later married Elmer Shaffer.
