    GRAHAM — Mrs.. Gladys Coble Kernodle, 73, of 755 Kernodle Lane, died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after nine days of critical illness following a stroke.

    A native of Alamance County, she was a homemaker and an active member of Antioch Baptist Church and the Emily Hilton Sunday School Class. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother.

    Survivors include her husband, Ellis V. Kernodle of the home; a daughter, Eva K. (Allen) Hester of Graham; a son, Robert V. Kernodle of Haw River; two grandchildren, Tammy and Candy; two greatgrandchildren, Mercedes and Michaela; a brother, Vernon Coble of Snow Camp; and two sisters, Nellie Smith of Liberty and Lois Spoon of Snow Camp.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. "Bob" Coble and Cora Foster Coble; three sisters, Ruby Coble, Myrtle Coble, and Vida Coley; and two brothers, Roy Coble and Vance Coble.

    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 at the Antioch Baptist Church, 1358 Antioch Baptist Church Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215, by the Rev. Steve Loy, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham this evening, May 8, 2005 from 6 until 8 and at other times at the residence of the daughter at 759 Kernodle Lane in Graham.

    Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
