Drake's, "The Town of Roxbury" p.123 states ... Giles Alexander, ca1793 bought of a French Refugee, Mme.Berlelle de FitzPatrick,nee Boires, Eustis House, built by Shirley. It also states he mistreated his wife so badly that a group of young men of Boston's best families came disguised to the house one evening. Broke off the stone heads of the lions on the gate, & tarred and feathered Mr.Alexander.
